Ericsson Open 2000

The Ericsson Open 2000 was the 16th edition of the Miami Masters and took place on hard court from March 20 to April 6, 2000.

The men's tournament was part of the Tennis Masters Series and was endowed with a total of $ 3,200,000, while the women's tournament was classified as a Tier I tournament due to the prize money of $ 2,525,000 . Both tournaments started with 96 participants in the main field.

Richard Krajicek was the winner of last year in the men’s category , and Venus Williams made the winners list for the women in 1999 . Neither did they defend their title this year. Instead, Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis won the individual competitions. For Sampras it was already the 3rd title at this tournament after 1993 and 1994, Hingis won it once in 1997.

Successful men's doubles were the pairing Todd Woodbridge / Mark Woodforde , which won the tournament for the fourth time. Julie Halard-Decugis and Ai Sugiyama won the women's doubles competition.
