AAPT Championships 2000

The AAPT Championships 2000 were the 22nd edition of the hard court tennis tournament in Adelaide . The tournament was part of the male ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Qatar Mobil Open in Doha and the Gold Flake Open in Chennai in the first match week of the 2000 season from January 3 to 10, 2000. The prize pool was $ 325,000 for both the singles and doubles. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The defending champion of the individual competition was the Swede Thomas Enqvist , who failed in the final this year to local hero Lleyton Hewitt . This was Hewitt's third success on the tour and his second at the Adelaide tournament.

In doubles, the Australian pairing Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge won , taking over from Gustavo Kuerten and Nicolás Lapentti . It was the 60th title for both of them, most of which they celebrated together. In this competition, too, Lleyton Hewitt was in the final with Sandon Stolle at his side.
