The Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel 2000 was the 31st edition of the indoor tennis tournament in Basel . The tournament was part of the ATP series as the International Series tournament . It took place together with the Kremlin Cup in Moscow from October 24th to 29th, 2000 and was played on carpet in the St. Jakobshalle . The prize money for both the singles and doubles tournaments was $ 350,000. In singles, 32 players competed against each other, in doubles there were 16 pairings.

The individual tournament was won by the Swede Thomas Enqvist , who was in second position , replacing last year's winner Karol Kučera . Kucera did not appear to defend the title. For Enqvist it was the second title of the season and the 18th of his career. In the final he defeated the hitherto largely unknown Swiss Roger Federer in five sets, who also made it into the double final.

The defending champions in doubles were South African Brent Haygarth and Aleksandar Kitinov from Macedonia, who no longer competed in this constellation . While Kitinov was not represented at the tournament, Haygarth failed with his compatriot Wayne Ferreira in the first round. Instead, the fourth-placed pairing consisting of the US American Donald Johnson and the South African Piet Norval won , which meant the third title of the double this year. In addition, it was Johnson's and Norval's 13th title of their careers, but in this constellation they only played together this season.
