Goellner grew up in Brazil as the son of a diplomat and did not live in Germany until he was 16. His parents' family name is Göllner. Since umlauts are unknown to the Brazilian authorities , his surname was entered in the birth certificate with oe instead of ö . Marc-Kevin Goellner is married and has two children.
Tennis career
In 1993 he won his first tournament in Nice in singles, with David Prinosil he reached the final of the French Open in doubles. In the same year he won the Davis Cup with the German team and climbed over 400 places in the world rankings. In 1996 he won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta together with his doubles partner Prinosil .
In total, Goellner won two singles and four doubles. His highest position in the tennis world rankings was 26th in singles and 25th in doubles. His trademark was the upside down baseball cap.
From 2004 Goellner and his trainer Andreas Maurer ran their own tennis academy in Cologne , the New Tennis Generation (NTG) . There he offered professional training and support on the way to becoming a tennis professional. Since 2009 he has been running his own tennis academy, the MKG Tennis Academy in Cologne.
Since the beginning of 2015 Goellner has been playing in the men's 40s (1st association league) in the TTC Brauweiler club.
