Magnus Norman (born May 30, 1976 in Filipstad ) is a former Swedish tennis player .

Career

In his career he has won twelve tournaments in singles, including the Italian Open , which is part of the ATP Masters series, and the Swedish Open . In 2000 he reached the final of the French Open , which he lost to Gustavo Kuerten in four sets. In the middle of 2000 he reached his highest world rankings with rank 2 . In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney . In the last sixteen he was eliminated there against Arnaud Di Pasquale .

With Sweden he won the Davis Cup in 1998 . Norman, who made his debut in 1998 and played a total of seven games for the Swedish team by 2003, won seven of his 13 individual games.

For a short time he was in a relationship with Martina Hingis . In 2004 he announced his resignation due to a hip injury (he also had a heart valve operation).

Today Magnus Norman works for the Swedish company Catella. In 2009 and 2010 he coached his compatriot Robin Söderling into the final of the French Open . Since April 2013 he has been training the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka , who has achieved his greatest successes under his guidance. In 2016 he won the award for best coach on tour at the ATP World Tour Awards for his successes .

Since 2016 he has also started as a triathlete in Ironman races.
