In his career, Carlsen won three ATP titles, in 1998 in Hong Kong , in 2002 in Tokyo and in 2005 in Memphis . He also reached four other finals; in doubles he was in two finals. The left-hander achieved his best result in a Grand Slam tournament in 1993 at the Australian Open , when he made it to the round of 16 and lost to Michael Stich . In his career, which lasted from 1991 to 2007, the Dane received almost $ 2.9 million in prize money. He reached his best world ranking position at a young age, in June 1993 when he was listed at position 41. His individual record at the end of his career: 266 wins out of 288 defeats.
Kenneth Carlsen also holds a record in Grand Slam tournaments; he was eliminated there 29 times in the first round. Neither an active nor a former tennis professional has come across such a number.
Carlsen's career ended with the ATP Challenger in Kolding 2007. He lost his last game there in round one 6-7 and 4-6 against the German Björn Phau.
