Jacco Eltingh (born August 29, 1970 in Heerde ) is a former Dutch tennis player .

Career

Elting became a professional tennis player in 1988 and had his first major success the following year at the Challenger tournament in Lagos when he reached the final with his partner Paul Haarhuis . He was also in the quarter-finals of the individual competition. In 1992 he won his first individual title on the ATP World Tour with a final victory over MaliVai Washington in Manchester . The following year he won his second single title in Atlanta and six double titles with Paul Harrhuis. In 1994 both were in twelve final games, of which they could win eight. He won a total of 44 double titles in his career, most of them with Paul Haarhuis. He also won four individual titles. He achieved his best scores in the world rankings in 1995 with position 19 in singles and number 1 in doubles, which he held for a total of 62 weeks.

His best result in a Grand Slam tournament in singles at the Australian Open and in Wimbledon, each with a place in the quarter-finals. Elting was able to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in the course of his career, the Australian Open and the French Open even twice each. With the exception of the Australian Open, which he won alongside Jonas Björkman in 1998, his partner in all Grand Slam titles was Paul Haarhuis.

Eltingh played six singles and ten doubles games for the Dutch Davis Cup team between 1992 and 1998 . While his individual balance was negative at 2-4, he was able to win eight of his ten games in doubles.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics , he joined Paul Haarhuis in doubles for the Netherlands. In the semifinals they were defeated by Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde from Australia, they then lost the bronze medal game against Marc-Kevin Goellner and David Prinosil from Germany.
