Pedersen became a professional tennis player in 1992 and was able to celebrate his greatest career success in his first year as a professional when he won the ATP tournament in Bolzano alongside Anders Järryd . This should remain his only double title on the ATP World Tour. Although he reached a double-final with Henrik Holm again in 1993 , in Kuala Lumpur they were defeated by the Dutch Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis . In the course of his career he was also able to win three double titles on the ATP Challenger Tour . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1993 with position 366 in singles and position 78 in doubles.
His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the first round of the US Open in 1993. After qualifying with victories, including victories over Jeremy Bates, he was defeated in three sets against Byron Black in the opening game . This was also his only qualification for a Grand Slam tournament in singles. In the doubles competition he reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 1991 on the side of Matt Lucena .
Pedersen played 20 singles and 15 doubles games for the Norwegian Davis Cup team between 1987 and 1999 . His greatest success with the team was participation in the first round of the world group in 1995. In the 5-0 defeat against Belgium , he was only used in doubles. Both his single balance of 14: 6 and his double balance of 8: 7 were positive. At the 1992 Summer Olympics , he joined Christian Ruud in doubles for Norway. Norway lost in the first round to the South African doubles consisting of Wayne Ferreira and Piet Norval in four sets. South Africa later won the silver medal.
