Wayne Ferreira (born September 15, 1971 in Johannesburg ) is a retired South African tennis player .
Career
In his professional career (from 1989) he won 15 individual titles. At the 1992 Olympic Games , he won the silver medal alongside Piet Norval . In the same year he achieved his best result in a Grand Slam tournament at the Australian Open by moving into the semi-finals ; In 2003 he succeeded again. His best finish in the ATP - World ranking it reached on May 8, 1995 Place 6th
In 2000, Ferreira won the Hopman Cup alongside Amanda Coetzer . After the US Open in 2004 he announced his retirement from professional sport. In 2005 he made a one-off comeback on the occasion of the Davis Cup game between the South Africans and Germany ; he played two games, both of which he lost.
