Danie Visser (born July 26, 1961 in Rustenburg ) is a former South African tennis player . In 1990 he was number one in the double world rankings.

Life

Visser became a professional tennis player in 1982 and reached the double finals of the ATP tournament in Munich alongside his compatriot Tian Viljoen . Both were together two more times in a double-final the following year, but it was not until 1985 that Visser celebrated his first tournament victory. At the tournament in Bristol he won together with Eddie Edwards . The following year he was able to defend his title, this time with Christo Steyn . In total, he won 17 ATP double titles in the course of his career, nine of them with Pieter Aldrich , including the Masters tournament in Toronto and the ATP International Series Gold tournament in Stuttgart . Another 25 times he was in a double final. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1984 with position 59 in singles, and in 1990 with position one in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 1985. In the doubles competition, he won the US Open and the Australian Open in 1990 alongside Pieter Aldrich ; In 1993 he won the Australian Open for the second time together with Laurie Warder .
