Aldrich became a professional tennis player in 1987. He was a double specialist who celebrated his success exclusively at the side of his compatriot Danie Visser . In 1988 they won their first joint ATP tournament in Charleston . In total, they won nine double titles, including the ATP International Series Gold tournament in Stuttgart , and they made it into a double final ten times. Visser won his only individual title in 1990 at the lawn tournament in Newport against the Australian Darren Cahill . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1988 with position 64 in singles, and in 1990 with position one in doubles.
His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round of the US Open in 1988 and 1989. In the doubles competition, he won the US Open and the Australian Open in 1990 alongside Danie Visser , and both were in the finals that year from Wimbledon and in the quarterfinals of the French Open .
