Christo Steyn (born May 1, 1961 in Springs ) is a former South African tennis player .

Life

Steyn was a semi-finalist in the NCAA championships in 1983 . In 1985 he was in the semi-finals of Adelaide . His most successful year was 1986, when he won two ATP tournaments in doubles and was in a final four more times, including the Masters tournament in Cincinnati . The following year he was with Danie Visser in the final of Philadelphia , but could not win another tournament victory. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1986 with position 42 in singles and 1987 with position 23 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the round of 16 at the 1985 Australian Open. In the doubles competition, he was in the round of 16 at Wimbledon and the US Open .
