Udo Hertwich

Udo Hertwich (born July 4, 1944 ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Before his political career, Hertwich , who lives in Lugau, worked as a sports teacher. June 6, 1990 to July 31, 2008 he was District Administrator of the district Stollberg . With regard to his work on the supervisory board of the Stollberger Hospital, Hertwich has been suspected of corruption since 2003 . After Hertwich had been charged in June 2004 on charges of embezzlement of EUR 106,812, he was suspended on June 15, 2004 by District President Karl Noltze . The criminal proceedings against Hertwich were not opened by the Chemnitz Regional Court due to a lack of evidence, which allowed him to return to his office six months after his suspension. The investigations of the Chemnitz public prosecutor's office against Hertwich were finally stopped in February 2006.

Hertwich caused a stir on June 22, 2008 when he ran as a single applicant against the official CDU candidate Frank Vogel in the run-off election that had become necessary in the election of the district administrator of the Erzgebirge district, which was newly created as part of the Saxon district reform in 2008 . He justified his approach by saying that he would have preferred to see party friend Albrecht Kohlsdorf as a candidate. Hertwich received only 3.9% of the valid votes, while Vogel was elected district administrator. As a result, the CDU in the Erzgebirgskreis discussed an exclusion of Hertwich from the party and carried it out in September 2008, officially with outstanding membership fees.

Because of a breach of duty during an evacuation of a sewage pit in Leukersdorf in 1999 , the Erzgebirgskreis is demanding compensation of 127,832 euros from Hertwich, who arranged for the clearing by the Stollberg district. Hertwich's lawsuit against this performance notice was dismissed in November 2010 by the Chemnitz Administrative Court.

Hertwich was President of the Stollberg District Sports Association and is now Vice President of the Erzgebirge District Sports Association.
