The Chemnitz Regional Court is a court of the ordinary jurisdiction of the Free State of Saxony . It belongs to the district of the Dresden Higher Regional Court . At the end of 2008 165 people were employed here, 48 of them judges.

Seat and District of the Court

The seat of the regional court is Chemnitz . The judicial district includes the district court districts of Aue , Chemnitz , Döbeln , Freiberg , Hainichen , Marienberg and Stollberg . The public prosecutor's office responsible for this regional court district is the Chemnitz public prosecutor's office .

history

The Chemnitz Regional Court existed as early as 1855.

Alfred Brodauf was a judge at the Chemnitz Regional Court from 1900. From 1919 to 1933 he was its director.

In the context of the controversial Waldheim trials , several criminal chambers of the regional court were involved in trials against people accused of war crimes.

In January 1991 Peter Igneé took over the duties of President of the Chemnitz District Court at the time . In November 1991 he became president of the court, which from January 1, 1993 was continued as the Chemnitz Regional Court. Peter Igneè retired on June 25, 2007. From July 1, 2007 to December 31, 2008, Gerd Schmidt was the court president.
