The Aue District Court is an institution of ordinary jurisdiction and one of a total of 30 district courts in the Free State of Saxony . The court in the large district town of Aue-Bad Schlema at the corner of Richtstrasse and Schwarzenberger Strasse consists of three buildings from the beginning of the 20th century.

Seat and District of the Court

The judicial district of the Aue District Court encompasses the area of the former Aue-Schwarzenberg district ( Section 1, Paragraph 4, Annex No. 1 of the Saxon Justice Act). The court is located in the Richtstrasse 1 building. There is a branch of the Aue District Court in Stollberg .

Superior courts

The Chemnitz Regional Court has been directly superordinate to the Aue District Court since August 1, 2008. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court of Dresden .

Courthouse

The residents of Au, who in the second half of the 19th century still comprised less than 3,000 people, had to go to the judicial office in neighboring Schneeberg , later the Royal District Court , to clarify their legal matters . The industrialization that followed at this time, however, quickly led to an explosion of population, so that the place needed its own building. In 1896, the Saxon Ministry of Justice approved the construction of a courthouse and selected a place from several possible building sites behind the old Auer Friedhof, on the slope of a mountain that was later called "Mountain of 3 Justice" by the inhabitants: earthly justice with the district court , the supernatural justice with the neighboring rectory of the St. Nikolaigemeinde and "the screaming injustice" as a synonym for the tax office .

Construction began in 1899 and was inaugurated on November 1, 1901. It housed offices and negotiation rooms as well as the business premises and the auction room of the bailiff . The official apartment for the judiciary was set up on the upper floor. In the vicinity of the actual district court, an outbuilding with a prison and prison yard was built at the same time .

In the years 1964–1991 the former prison was used as a school day care center.

Former tax office, since the 21st century "House C" of the local court

After the fall of the Wall , the Auer court , which now works according to German law, got so much work that the previous rooms were no longer sufficient. The former prison was rebuilt to accommodate additional offices and a meeting room ("House B"). In addition, the former tax office was added to the district court, which had been rebuilt and expanded for this purpose for a few years ("House C"). All buildings have been restored to their original appearance and have thus been preserved as a monument.
