Frank Heinz Vogel (born April 5, 1957 in Sosa ) is a German local politician of the CDU and acting district administrator of the Saxon Erzgebirge district .

Life

After attending the polytechnic high school in his home town of Sosa between 1963 and 1973, Frank Vogel completed an apprenticeship as a business administrator. From 1975 to 1977 he worked in the bismuth trade as an accountant and then studied until 1980 at the technical college for domestic trade in Dresden, where he graduated as an economist with a degree in business administration. He then returned to the bismuth trade as deputy head of financial accounting. From 1982 to 1990 he was part of the operations manager of the VEB organization and accounting center Aue, which emerged from the bismuth trade .

Frank Vogel is married and has two children.

Vogel has been a member of the CDU since 1984 and was chairman of the CDU local association Sosa from 1988 to 1996, where he was also a local councilor from 1990 to 1994. From 1990 to 1994 he was 1st alderman of the district administrator in the district office of Aue . After fusion with the county Schwarzenberg to Aue-Schwarzenberg 1994, he was Assistant Secretary of the district administrator Karl Matko in the department Main and financial management, school administration, culture, administrative modernization .

Vogel has been a member of the board of the Erzgebirge regional association of the Local Political Association of Saxony since 1997 and has been its chairman since 2005. From 1985 to 2005 Vogel was the district treasurer of the CDU. From 2005 to 2007 he was chairman of the CDU district association Aue-Schwarzenberg and was elected chairman when the district association Erzgebirge was founded.

In the election to the district administrator of the newly created Erzgebirgskreis as part of the Saxon district reform in 2008 , he was able to prevail in the runoff election on June 22, 2008 with a turnout of 26.6% with 55.8% of the valid votes against his four competitors. He took office when the district reform came into force on August 1, 2008. On June 7, 2015, he was confirmed in office with a share of 58.7% of the votes and a voter turnout of 43%.

Vogel has been President of the Saxon District Association since September 7, 2015. V.

Honors

State President Matthias Roessler awarded him as "outstanding [s representative] for responsible and independent local self-government within the meaning of the Saxon Constitution" on 16 June 2018, the Saxon Constitutional Medal .
