Neighboring areas

The Schwarzenberg district bordered clockwise to the west, starting with the Aue and Annaberg districts . In the south it bordered on Czechoslovakia .

history

The county Schwarzenberg originated in 1939 by renaming the 1874 formed Amtshauptmannschaft Schwarzenberg . In 1947 it was renamed the Aue district.

On December 17, 1951, the towns of Johanngeorgenstadt and Schneeberg were spun off from the then Aue district and thus became urban districts . At the same time, the new districts Aue and Schwarzenberg were formed from the remaining district area , which were assigned to the Karl-Marx-Stadt district on July 25, 1952 .

The following 15 communities formed the new Schwarzenberg district on December 17, 1951: Antonsthal, Beierfeld, Bermsgrün, Breitenbrunn, Erla, Grünhain, Grünstädtel, Markersbach, Pöhla, Raschau, Rittersgrün, Schwarzenberg, Steinheidel, Tellerhäuser, Waschleithe.

The circle experienced only minor changes before it was dissolved:

  • June 20, 1957 - Incorporation of the independent city of Johanngeorgenstadt
  • July 15, 1967 - Renaming of Steinheidel in Erlabrunn
  • March 1, 1994 - Incorporation of Tellerhäuser in Rittersgrün.

On May 17, 1990, the name of the district was changed to the district of Schwarzenberg. On the occasion of the reunification of the two German states, the district was assigned to the re-established state of Saxony in October 1990 and incorporated into the administrative district of Chemnitz in 1991 . During the first Saxon district reform , it went on August 1, 1994 in the new district of Aue-Schwarzenberg .
