history
The district of Plauen had existed as the administrative authority of Plauen since 1874. In 1939 the name was changed to the district of Plauen. After the end of the Second World War , the existing district structure was taken over. From 1945 the district of Plauen belonged to the state of Saxony. After the founding of the GDR, the 5 existing states were dissolved by law in 1952 and divided into 14 districts ( district reform ). The territorially subordinate districts were also downsized, some were newly created, others dissolved. The Plauen district gave over a quarter (22) of its 82 municipalities to the newly created Reichenbach district on July 25, 1952 .
On July 25, 1952, a comprehensive district reform took place in the GDR , in which, among other things, the states lost their importance and new districts were founded. A larger part of the district of Plauen fell to the new district of Reichenbach , while the new district of Plauen-Land emerged from the remaining part of the district.
The district was assigned to the newly formed Karl-Marx-Stadt district . The district seat was in the city of Plauen , which remained independent as an urban district.
60 communities remained in the Plauen-Land district: Altensalz, Christgrün, Dehles, Demeusel, Drochaus, Fasendorf, Gansgrün, Geilsdorf, Grobau, Großfriesen, Großzöbem, Gutenfürst, Helmsgrün, Herlasgrün, Jocketa, Jößnitz, Kauschwitz, Kemnitz b.
