The place was mentioned in 1267 as "Magno Vrizen". It was an extended square village in a block corridor . The place belonged to the Plauen office until the 19th century , then to the administrative authority of Plauen and then to the district of Plauen until it was incorporated into the then still independent city of Plauen as part of the district reform on January 1, 1996 .
