Werner Poellmann

Werner Pöllmann (* 1953 in Markneukirchen ) is a German educator and local history researcher .

Life

Pöllmann, who comes from the Sträßel district of Markneukirchen , worked as a geography teacher at the grammar school in Markneukirchen until August 2016 .

Act

In his free time he is engaged in local research and monument preservation. As a member of the “Kursächsische Postmeilensäulen eV” research group since the 1990s, he initiated the re-establishment or restoration of several Saxon post-mile pillars (including in the course of the Alte Egerer Poststrasse ) and royal Saxon milestones in the Upper Vogtland region , and supervised the implementation. He presented several publications on the findings of his local history research. Scattered among all peoples for his work . Reconstruction of the life paths of the Brandt family and other Jews in the southern Vogtland between 1880 and 1940 , he was awarded a certificate of honor at the Saxon State Prize for Local Research in 2013 .

Pöllmann is also a member of the Markneukirchen Heimatverein and the Committee on Culture, Sport, Youth of the Euregio Egrensis .
