The Neustadt is one of the smallest districts of Plauen and is located in the city center . The buildings were almost completely destroyed by the bombing of the city at the end of World War II.

The Neustadt district is located in the center of Plauen and borders four other districts.

The district is bounded by (clockwise from the north) Stresemannstrasse, Reichenbacher Strasse ( B 173 ), Alte Elsterbrücke , Syrastrasse and Hammerstrasse. The White Elster flows parallel to the southern border . In the Elsteraue, near the Alte Elsterbrücke, the AREA241 Skateplaza is one of the largest skate parks in Germany. Neustadtplatz is to the west. The eastern part is characterized by commercial buildings.
