The Ostvorstadt is located in the southern center of Plauen and borders six other districts.

The northern border of the district forms the Elstertalbahn . A large part of the center of the Ostvorstadt is occupied by the "Mammengebiet", a prefabricated housing estate from GDR times. There are allotment gardens in the southeast . In the east of the district are the 1. FC Wacker Plauen sports field and several listed buildings along Stöckierter Straße.
