Straßberg is a district of the city of Plauen in the western part of the city , which was incorporated in 1999. The district is identical to the district of Straßberg and represents a village in Plauen.

Straßberg is located in the south-western outskirts of the city of Plauen and borders five other districts of Plauen and four districts of a municipality in the Vogtlandkreis .

The area of ​​the village consists of 67.4% agricultural land and 12.7% forest . The remaining area is streets, residential and industrial areas.

The White Elster flows through the village and is dammed by a weir near the mill .

The place was mentioned in 1194 as Strazberg . It was a row village in a block corridor . The place belonged to the Plauen office until the 19th century . The community then belonged to the administrative authority of Plauen and then to the district of Plauen . In the course of the district reform it became part of the Vogtland district until it was incorporated into the then still district-free town of Plauen on January 1, 1999 .

In the village there is a listed church with a cemetery. This was built on the site of the former Strasbourg Castle.

Straßberg has a stop on the Plauen – Cheb railway line , which is served by the Vogtland Railway, and is connected to local transport via a few bus stops. State road S 297 runs through the village .
