Weir of the Weißen Elster and weir of the Mühlgraben (weir system Straßberg - Weisse Elster)
Weir of the Weißen Elster and weir of the Mühlgraben (weir system Straßberg - Weisse Elster) (Parcels 419/2 and 511)
(map)
1936-1938 Originally preserved and functional weir of local and technical historical value. Rack weir with fish belly flap . In addition to the weir, the system includes small houses on both banks in which the gears for the drive of the weir were housed. The drive system with controller is located in one of the buildings (village side). The technical system is complete and in working condition. Originally the system was used to supply water to the Mühlgraben, today the weir dams the sediment-laden water of the White Elster and holds back these sediments, which without a weir would lead to silting up in the urban area of Plauen. This means that the weir now has flood protection functions. The system also includes the small weir at the Mühlgraben inlet, which is said to come from the same time. 09302970

  • Hall church with groin vaults and belt arches , recessed pillars with galleries and simple furnishings. In the east there is a projecting organ gallery and a pulpit altar. This Gothic carved altar with painted side wings probably dates from the 15th century. The equipment includes a trample organ above the altar. The tower probably dates from around 1820. The massive, westwork-like tower forms a structural, functional and design unit with the church. In it are the spiral stones leading to the galleries, the large vestibule, above this the patron s lodge, richly decorated in 1626, and two partly heated residential floors. The middle tower structure contains the vaulted bell chamber with a Welsch hood and lantern in the octagon . The rooms on the tower floors are lit through rectangular windows with Renaissance walls, which, together with the seat niche portal, underline the character of the castle. This tower building does not have its model in the western works of the Romanesque . Rather, it was common in the 16th century to merge old double tower fronts into one unit and to provide a raised central tower. The nave with arched windows has a gable roof covered with slate. There is a sacristy annex to the east .
  • Enclosure wall: quarry stone masonry, partly brick wall with slate cover
  • Mortuary: one-story plastered building with accentuated triangular gable, 19th century
  • Eleven tombs

Manor house of the former manor of Straßberg
Manor house of the former manor of Straßberg Hauptstrasse 24
(map)
2nd half of the 19th century Representative plastered building of local and architectural value; demolished in February 2017 down to the cellar vault. The residential / farm building of the former manor of Straßberg was a large two-story, plastered brick building with a jamb and gable roof, with a circumferential cornice, elaborate natural stone walls and ornamental roofs with horizontal beams or segmental arches and triangular gables. A side projection jutted out somewhat in the southwest. The construction was completed with a slate-covered gable roof. If these shapes and materials indicated that the building was built in the second half of the 19th century, the considerably thicker quarry stone walls in parts of the ground floor indicated a previous building. The house was built in several stages. It is believed that there were even Romanesque shaped stones and Gothic wall connections in the building on a larger scale. In addition to the nearby church, parts of the building may have belonged to the oldest building stock in the town. The location as the farmyard of the economically and politically very important manor was documented as early as 1276. In addition to the importance of the building history, the relevance of the local history and the local image was to be emphasized. 09247062

Detailed memorial texts

  1. Church (City of Plauen, Lower Monument Protection Authority in cooperation with the Vogtland Museum Plauen and the Plauen parishes, leaflet for the Open Monument Day on September 9, 2007): The year of construction of the church in Straßberg is given as 1576. The rationalistic building of the High Renaissance, unadorned in detail both inside and out, represents a special architectural achievement. It can be attributed to the work of a master builder who at the same time carried out the mighty Untereundorf manor and palace complex. The church was built at the instigation of Joachim von Reibold auf Untersteundorf on the terrain of the former Strasbourg Castle above the Elstertal. The mighty vestibule-like tower porch with a castle-like character is entered through a large vestibule. It takes up the patronage box and living rooms above it on two floors. The patronage box contains Renaissance stucco work, wall paintings and two large murals by Friedrich Wilhelm Franck from Kahla. Two spiral stones open up the galleries with brick parapets. The middle tower structure with octagon, hood and lantern conceals the bells. The oblong groin vaulted church interior impresses with its clear design. The organ above the classical pulpit altar was built by Johann Gottlob Trampeli between 1802 and 1804. Other important pieces of equipment are the shrine and wings of a late Gothic winged altar, a group of flagellations and a large crucifix. Modifications and repairs took place in 1626, 1832 and 1934/35. During a restoration examination in 1997, the painting from the time the church was built was detected and reconstructed on the original plaster of the interior. On October 31, 1998 the rededication of the renewed church interior and the restored organ took place.
