Meßbach is a district of Plauen in Vogtland, which was incorporated in 1994.

geography

Meßbach is located in the south of the city in a basin of the Milmesbach and borders on three other districts of Plauen and two communities in the Vogtland district . The old trade route Via Imperii between Plauen and Hof , now part of the federal highway 173 , runs through the village .

The area of the village consists of 82.7% agricultural land and 12.7% forest . The remaining area is streets, residential and industrial areas in loose development.

history

House on Hofer Landstrasse - Louis Riedel worked from 1867–1910

The place was first mentioned in 1410 as Espech . The name Espech means place in / on Espich (aspen grove). In 1467 there was a farm and a farm . A loose square village with a block corridor developed from this . Meßbach belonged to the Plauen office until the 19th century . The community later belonged to the administrative authority of Plauen and then to the district of Plauen until it was incorporated into the then still independent city of Plauen on January 1, 1994, shortly before the district reform .

From 1867 to 1910 Louis Riedel , the founder of the Vogtland dialect poetry, taught at the school in Meßbach.
