history

Finds from the Bronze Age prove an early settlement of the area around Taltitz. Around 560 AD, the Sorbs settled the country, who were displaced from the west by settlers in the 12th century. The first documentary mention dates back to 1225 with "Dalnitz". In 1244, a document from Bailiff Heinrich von Plauen mentions a knight "Hermann von Taltitz". On a document from 1418, "Albrecht Thusel zu Taltitz" and his sons are named as the owners of the Taltitz manor , who then sold it in 1571 to Carl von Neidberg auf Dobenck . In 1541 Taltitz was named as a Vorwerk . Further owners in the 16th century were the lords of Thoss , then in 1651 the lords of Reitzenstein . In 1667 the Plauen bailiff Wolfgang Ferber bought the Taltitz estate. In 1683 he had the church extended by an extension and a new altar, a new organ, coats of arms and paintings on the ceiling and galleries. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Groen, Hickmann auf Dobeck, Zenker, von Haack, von Reibold, von Feilitzsch and Jahn families owned the Taltitz manor until it came to Johannes Nahr in 1931. For basic rule of the manor Taltitz included not only the place Taltitz even individual houses in Meßbach . The manor Taltitz exercised jurisdiction over goods in Dobeck, Eulenstein, Hermsgrün , Meßbach, Raschau , Schönbrunn and Taltitz.

In addition to the Taltitz manor, the Schlömel and Eulenstein manors also existed in the village. The Schlömel manor, also known as Schlömen, was owned by Heyenreich von Rabe around 1400. Then from 1428 it was owned by the Knights of Cospod as a fiefdom. In 1470 it went to Hans von der Heyde, then between 1490 and 1533 the families von Cospod, von Stange and von Reitzenstein. From 1590 the Schlömel manor was owned by the von Neidberg family, then the von Thoss and von Tettau family . Gut Schlömel , known as Vorwerk , was mentioned for the last time in 1608 , when it was merged with the Taltitz manor through sale to the von Reitzenstein brothers.

According to the Historical Directory of Saxony, the manor Eulenstein was first mentioned in 1791. However, other sources mention it as early as the 14th century. Accordingly, Eulenstein was initially a Freihof , which was owned by Petzold von Dobenck on Taltitz in 1388 . In 1428, like the Schlömel manor, it belonged to the knights of Cospod. It was then owned by the von Zedtwitz zu Stein and later by the von Zedtwitz zu Neuberg . Between 1551 and 1608 the Lords of Tettau owned Eulenstein. In 1608, Gut Eulenstein, known as the Vorwerk, was bought by Joachim von Neidberg on Dobenck . In contrast to the Taltitz manor with Schlömel, Eulenstein, as the Vorwerk of the Dobeck manor, did not belong to the Plauen office , but to the Voigtsberg office . The Eulenstein estate was a special dish, which included two well-to-do serfs, a sheep farm, a brickyard and 36 subjects.

In 1758, during the Seven Years' War, Taltitz was temporarily the headquarters of the Prussian High Command under Prince Heinrich of Prussia . In the 19th century, the Taltitz manor was combined with the newly written individual Eulenstein manor. While Taltitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 , Eulenstein was administered by the Office of Voigtsberg like Dobeck . In 1856 Taltitz and Eulenstein were affiliated to the Oelsnitz court office and in 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration . The community of Dorbenck was incorporated into Taltitz on October 1, 1935. When the Pirk dam was built (1935–1938), the Dobeck manor lost part of the land because it was located in the reservoir area. Since then, Dobenck Castle has been located directly on the banks of the Pirk Dam.

Youth hostel in Taltitz in Dorbenck

In the course of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone from 1945 onwards , the Kasten-Hickmann family, owners of the Dobeck and Eulenstein manors, and the Nahr family, who owned the Taltitz manor, were expropriated. While Dobenck Castle was later converted into a youth hostel , Taltitz Castle is no longer preserved due to the demolition in 1949/50 except for the baroque corner tower. During the GDR times, VEB Kombinat Espenhain operated the company holiday home for employees and built a building complex with flat roofs for this purpose. There was also the “ Geschwister Scholl ” children's holiday camp .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Taltitz with its district Dobeck became part of the Oelsnitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Oelsnitz in 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. With the incorporation of Taltitz into Oelsnitz, the place has belonged to the city of Oelsnitz / Vogtl since January 1st, 1994.
