The forest hoof village Unterhermsgrün was mentioned in 1378 as "Nydern Hermansgrune". With regard to the manorial rule, the place was partly subordinate to the parish of Oelsnitz, the council of Oelsnitz and, as an official village, directly to the Voigtsberg office . Around 1764 the manor was partly owned by the Unterhermsgrün manor and partly as an official village by the Voigtsberg office.
