history

Planschwitz was first mentioned in 1297 when the "Ulricus Saccus de Plonswicz miles" was mentioned. The noble von Sack von Planschwitz family had their ancestral home in the village, initially on Planschwitz Castle, first mentioned in 1297 and now gone, in the center of the village. Like the nearby Stein Castle , the ruins of which are now on the banks of the Pirk Dam, it belonged to the lordly castle complexes of the Plauen rulership . While Planschwitz Castle disappeared early and its role as a manor was transferred to the Planschwitz manor , which was first designated as such in 1606 , Stein Castle, mentioned in 1327 as “munitio lapis”, existed until the 18th century as a border fortification and later as a fortress .

The place belonged Planschwitz regarding the basic rule in proportion to the manors Planschwitz and stone. The church of Planschwitz was mentioned as early as 1343. Until 1856, Planschwitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg . In 1856 the place was affiliated to the Oelsnitz court office and in 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration . Between 1935 and 1938, the Pirk dam was built north of the village , which means that the Stein castle ruins have been on the banks of the river ever since. In the course of the land reform in the Soviet zone of occupation , the last owners of the Planschwitz manor were expropriated. In 1948 the community of Planschwitz took over the manor house and used it as a school until 1970, then as a residential building. The preserved buildings are in good condition today and belong to different owners.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the community of Planschwitz became part of Oelsnitz district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On January 1, 1973 the neighboring town of Magwitz was incorporated with Göswein to Planschwitz. Since 1990 Planschwitz has belonged to the Saxon district of Oelsnitz, which was added to the Vogtland district in 1996. With the incorporation of Planschwitz into Oelsnitz, the place became a part of the city of Oelsnitz / Vogtl on January 1, 1994.
