Albin Buchholz

Albin Buchholz (* 1937 in Guben ) is a German musicologist .

Buchholz completed his studies in music education with a major in violin at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin with a state examination. He completed a postgraduate degree in musicology with a second subject in music aesthetics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , from which he graduated as a musicologist. At the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg , he was in 1976 on the subject to develop the violin concerto in the GDR (1950-1970) Dr. phil. PhD . As a violinist, he worked in various orchestras, taught at music schools, worked as a music dramaturge at the Plauen-Zwickau theater , as a research assistant and as a newspaper editor / music reviewer.

Buchholz has lived in Plauen since 1975 and deals intensively with the music history of the Vogtland . On this subject he published several books and numerous articles in specialist magazines and regional periodicals such as the Vogtland homeland sheets or the communications of the Association for Vogtland History, Folklore and Regional Studies . The topics considered include in particular the Vogtland organ landscape and, in general, musical instrument making.
