Jacsó played his first international competition at the 1983 World Cup in Moscow . In the second heavyweight up to 110 kg body weight, he achieved 410.0 kg (185.0 / 225.0 kg) in a duel and thus took second place behind Vyacheslav Ivanovich Klokow with 440.0 kg and in front of Anton Baraniak with 400.0 kg .

A participation in the Olympic Games 1984 in Los Angeles was denied Jacsó due to the Olympic boycott of Hungary , and so he did not enter an international competition again until 1985. Jacsó finished the 1986 World Championships in Sofia with 415.0 kg (182.5 / 232.5 kg) as third behind Sakharevich with 447.5 kg and Sergei Nagirny with 427.5 kg. Also at the 1987 World Cup in Ostrava , Jacsó Sakharevich had to bend and finished second with 415.0 kg (190.0 / 225.0 kg) behind the Soviet lifter with 445.0 kg and in front of Baraniak, who also lifted 415.0 kg , but was 200 grams heavier.

Sakharevich traveled to the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 as a favorite for the title because of his achievements in previous years. He was able to confirm this role with a new duel world record of 455.0 kg. Jacsó was second with a duel of 427.5 kg (190.0 / 237.5 kg) ahead of Ronny Weller with 425.0 kg.
