The Milmesbach is a flowing body of water in the Vogtland district . It has its headwaters in Meßbach and flows into the White Elster in Plauen . Some parts of the stream are piped, the original source blocked by field drainage.
meaning
In the landscape plan of the city of Plauen, the Milmesgrund in the source area is shown as a biotope composite complex of very high importance, through which the Thiergartener Dorfbach also flows. The flowing waters with near-natural meandering courses are lined with alder trees, wet meadows and tall herbaceous vegetation. Furthermore, there are several ponds in the area, which are predominantly natural.
history
The stream was of historical importance for the Plauen brewery owned by WF Hammer and in GDR times it was used for the trout breeding facility of the Anglerverband Südsachsen Mulde / Elster e. V. In 2014 the stream in the area of the Hammerpark was restored to its natural state.
