Andrew Barisic (born March 22, 1986 in Canberra , Croatian spelling: Andrew Barišić ) is an Australian football player of Croatian descent.
Career
Barisic began his senior career at Canberra Deakin after attending the ACT Academy of Sport in Canberra . After some time with the Melbourne Knights in the Victorian Premier League , he went to Germany in 2006 and played one season for SV Arminia Hannover . Since he made a short detour to the Croatian second division club NK Solin after the end of the season , before hiring at SV Schermbeck in September 2007 , he did not receive a work permit, which is necessary for a license to play in the major league. His contract with Schermbeck was therefore terminated in November after only a brief assignment and Barisic returned to Australia.
There he scored 19 goals in 26 missions for the Melbourne Knights in the 2008 season, the best goal yield of a Knights player since Mark Viduka's 21 goals in the 1994/95 season, and thus had a large share in reaching the championship final. In the final, the team lost 1-0 to Altona Magic after extra time . In the summer of 2009 Barisic moved to the A-League team Gold Coast United , where he was used in the following two seasons but only in 17 league games.
Barisic then left the club in early 2011 and switched to the Indonesian first division club Persebaya in 1927 . There he scored ten goals in 14 games, but was no longer considered by the new coach Divaldo Alves . In 2012 he left the club after a year and a half and moved to league rivals Arema Malang .
