history

The street village Thossfell was first mentioned in a document in 1294 by a "Henricus de Thossenvelle" in connection with a manor house. The place name can be interpreted as a place on the field of a castle. The manor came to Kunz von Hermsgrün in 1506 and was mentioned in a document in 1577 as a manor .

In 1599 Hans Caspar von Schönfels (* 1569 in Ruppertsgrün, + March 8, 1616 in Thossfell) bought the Thossfell manor from Ernst von Tettau. In addition to 750 guilders in cash, he gave him the Steinpleis estate for 7,859 guilders in payment. In 1661 Hans Caspar's son, Wolf Joachim von Schönfels (* 1599, + May 29, 1672 zu Thossfell) acquired the Zobes manor from his brother-in-law Heinrich von Bünau.

Later Carl Siegmund von Schönfels (born November 4, 1639 in Thossfell, + May 16, 1703 at court) inherited the lower part, after the younger son Joachim Friedrich von Schönfels (* November 6, in Thossfell, + January 15, 1704 in Thossfell ) had chosen the upper part of Thossfell due to his right to vote. In 1697 Joachim Friedrich sold the Zobes manor to Carl von Carlowitz.

Johann Christian von Schönfels (* March 22, 1674 in Röttis, + after 1728), after he had already sold the Weissenbrunn manor and the Moschwitz manor, also sold the Thossfell manor for 18,000 guilders to Lieutenant Colonel Casimir Gottfried von Beust on Neuensalz in 1723 .

His family remained in possession of the manor until 1846. During their time, the manor house was built in 1777, which was later sold to the Baron von Hausen. Under Baron von Hausen, the two manors that existed side by side in the 18th century were probably reunited, as two years after the purchase only one manor was mentioned in writing. The manor went to Louis Ferdinand Schönherr in 1901 and to Kurt Klötzer in 1919, who had the manor house rebuilt the following year.

Until the 19th century, the manorial power over Thossfell was partly part of the Thossfell manor , the other part was subordinate as an official village directly to the Electoral Saxon Office of Plauen. Until 1856, Thoßfell was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . On June 1, 1886 northeast of the town opened on Gospersgrüner hall station Thoßfell at the herlasgrün-oelsnitz railway . Since it was on the land of the Thossfell manor owner, it was given the name Thossfell, although the community of Gospersgrün was much closer. The station was completely abandoned in 1999. In 1878 the new Thossfell school building was opened.

In the course of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone , the manor owner Kurt Klötzer was expropriated in 1945. From 1965 the manor house served as a children's and company holiday home as well as a restaurant. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Thossfell became part of Plauen-Land in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon "Plauen district" from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996 . Between 1958 and 1964 arose in the course of the construction of the dam Poehl the Vorsperre Thoßfell south of the town. In 1963 the Neuensalz – Thoßfell secondary school combined was established, from which the Thossfell Polytechnic secondary school emerged in 1980 . In 1981 they moved into the new school building in prefabricated construction . On April 1, 1974, Gansgrün was incorporated into Thossfell.

On January 1, 1994, the municipality of Thossfell with Gansgrün was incorporated into Neuensalz. In the same year the school association "Treuener Land" was founded. In 1993 the old school was renovated and a modern elementary school was set up. The Thossfell Middle School was moved into the building of the former Treuen grammar school in 1999 . Since 2011 the elementary school has been called "Thossfell Talsperrenschule". The manor house of the former Thossfell manor has been empty since 1998.
