history

The forest hoof village Helmsgrün was first documented on June 6, 1418 in connection with the pledge of the rule Plauen by Vogt Heinrich X. von Plauen to the burgrave Johann III. mentioned by Nuremberg . The first settlement of the place took place with high probability in the 12th century by Franconian settlers. To the north-west of Helmsgrün there was a medieval weir on a spur above the Bellwitzbach , of which only the field names “Alter Hof” and “Burgstatt” testify today. Some of Helmsgrün's settlers are documented by name in the 15th century. The first known municipal code of Helmsgrün dates from 1610. The manorial rule over Helmsgrün and the Rodlera settlement in the Helmsgrüner Flur was at the Helmsgrün manor , which was combined with the Oberpöhl and Unterpöhl manors in 1680. In 1684, Hans Christoph von Röder became the sole owner of the Helmsgrün and Pöhl estates. The last owner from this family died in 1808.

Due to the Saxon rural community order of 1838 , the first Helmsgrün community committee was formed in 1839. Helmsgrün and the tobogganing in the town hall were in the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon office of Plauen until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . In 1895 the burned down sheep farm, the former Vorwerk was rebuilt.

The manor was owned by Rudolph Woldemar von Bodenhausen (1826–1900) on Pöhl.

Through the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Helmsgrün with Rodlera came to the district of Plauen-Land in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon "district of Plauen" from 1990 and in 1996 Vogtlandkreis rose. In 1956, the mayor of Helmsgrün was informed of the planned construction of the Pöhl dam . With the dissolution of the neighboring municipality of Pöhl in the course of the construction of the dam, parts of the Pöhl town hall will be reclassified to Helmsgrün. After the completion of the Pöhl dam in 1964, the Helmsgrüner Bay was built near the village. Near Rodlera one was cottage settlement . The nudist beach in Helmsgrün was legalized in 1976 by the district council of Plauen.

The municipality of Helmsgrün with its Rodlera district merged with the municipalities of Jocketa, Herlasgrün, Ruppertsgrün and Möschwitz to form the new municipality of Pöhl as part of the municipal reform in the Free State of Saxony on January 1, 1994. In 1998, the branch office of the Pöhl municipal administration in Helmsgrün was closed.
