history

The forest hoof village Herlasgrün was first mentioned in 1380 under the name "Herlyssgrun". Like most of the Vogtland towns that end with "green", Herlasgrün was probably created after the German conquest at the end of the 11th to the middle of the 12th century through the subsequent settlement with settlers from the Maing area or Thuringia. Until the end of the 19th century, the last traces of the first settlement, a ring wall or moated castle, could be seen in Herlasgrün. It had a total diameter of 52 meters and was located in the southwest of the place in the marshy lowlands of the Aubach. The basic rule over Herlasgrün practiced until the 19th century proportionately the manors Christgrün and Helmsgrün out.

Herlasgrün was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Treuen court office and in 1875 with the Auerbach administration . The construction of the Leipzig – Plauen – Hof railway line from 1846 to 1851 changed the place and the lives of its residents seriously. With the opening of the Herlasgrün – Oelsnitz railway line in 1865, the Herlasgrün station, opened in 1851 as a triangular station, became a transfer station between the two lines.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Herlasgrün became part of the Plauen-Land district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon "Plauen district" from 1990 and was added to the Vogtland district in 1996 . In the course of the municipal reform in the Free State of Saxony, Helmsgrün, Herlasgrün, Jocketa, Möschwitz and Ruppertsgrün merged to form the new municipality of Pöhl on January 1, 1994.
