Altensalz is a district of the municipality of Neuensalz in the Vogtlandkreis (Free State of Saxony ). It was incorporated into Neuensalz on January 1, 1972.

Location and traffic

Altensalz is located north of Neuensalz in the center of the natural area Vogtland ( Central Vogtland hill country ) in the Saxon part of the historical Vogtland . The place is located directly on the south bank of the Pöhl dam , in which the drive is dammed. The bungalow settlement Voigtsgrün on the bank of the reservoir is not located on Voigtsgrüner , but on Altensalzer Flur. The federal motorway 72 runs south-east of Altensalz .

history

The church of Altensalz was mentioned in 1214 as a prayer room by the Teutonic Order of Plauen . The first documentary mention of the town of Altensalz took place in a document from 1321, in which the bailiffs of Plauen transferred the ownership rights to Altensalz to the Teutonic Knights Order. The name of Altensalz and Neuensalz is derived from the salt springs on the right bank of the Trieb. The Altensalz saltworks was located on the former Kirchsteig after Gansgrün. Today it is ten meters below the water level of the Pöhl dam.

The manorial rule over Altensalz was part of the manors Thossfell and Neuensalz until the 19th century . Another portion of Old Salt shelter as office Village directly to the Saxon Office Plauen. Altensalz was in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Altensalz community became part of the Plauen-Land district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon "Plauen district" from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996 . Between 1958 and 1964, the Pöhl dam north of the village was created by damming the Trieb . On January 1, 1972, Altensalz was incorporated into Neuensalz.
