Bernd Fritz Lange (born May 2, 1956 in Görlitz ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He is the district administrator of the Saxon district of Görlitz .

Life

Long grew up in Rothenburg / OL . After his apprenticeship as an amelioration engineer, he later studied to become an amelioration engineer. In distance learning (1983–1990) he obtained a degree in hydraulic engineering . From 1974 to 1975 he was a skilled worker, from 1978 to 1990 site manager.

In 1990 he became mayor of Rothenburg. After eleven years in office, he did not stand in the mayoral election in 2001, after the CDU nominated him as a candidate for the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District and thus voted out the previous District Administrator Erich Schulze within the party . After his election as district administrator, he also took over the post of chairman of the regional planning association Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia from Schulze .

When Georg Milbradt announced his resignation in April 2008, Lange was considered a potential minister in the Tillich cabinet . According to his own statement, he received no request in this regard and was also not interested in a post outside of home.

As a result of the Saxony district reform in 2008 , the Lower Silesian Oberlausitzkreis, the Löbau-Zittau district and the previously independent city of Görlitz were merged to form the Görlitz district. After Günter Vallentin , District Administrator in the district of Löbau-Zittau, declined to run, Lange remained the only candidate within the CDU for the district election in June 2008. On June 8, he received the most votes from eight applicants with 42.8 percent, however, the absolute majority was not achieved, so that he had to face a new election on June 22nd. Here he was elected as the new district administrator of the Görlitz district with 57.6 percent of the valid votes.

Since November 17, 2008, Lange has also been President of the German association Euroregion Neisse e. V.

Bernd Lange is married and has three grown children. He is of the Protestant denomination .
