Michael Geisler (* 6. February 1960 in Magdeburg ) is a German politician of the CDU and district administrator of the district Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains .

Life

Geisler grew up in Egeln , a small town in what was then the Staßfurt district (today in Saxony-Anhalt ). After graduating from the Extended Oberschule in Egeln in 1978 and doing military service with the NVA , he began studying biology and chemistry at the University of Education in Köthen , which he successfully completed in 1985.

From 1985 to 1990 teacher of biology and chemistry at Polytechnic High School in Graupa in Pirna.

As a member of the CDU (GDR) , Geisler was elected to the district council of the Pirna district in May 1990 . He ended his teaching activity and became department head and alderman in the district administration. From 1993 until the district reform in 2008, he was district chairman of the CDU. On June 26, 1994 he won the election to the district administrator of the newly formed district of Saxon Switzerland as part of the Saxon district reform in 1994 , in which office he was confirmed in 2001.

From March 20, 2006 to October 26, 2007, Geisler was a member of the administrative board of Landesbank Sachsen .

In June 2008, with 52.0% of the votes, he was elected district administrator of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district that was newly formed as part of the Saxon district reform in 2008 and took up this position on August 1, 2008. In June 2015 he was re-confirmed in office in the first ballot with 56.4% of the vote.

Geisler has lived in Struppen since 1996 , is married and has three children.
