Michael Geisler (basketball official)

Michael Geisler (born November 22, 1948 ) is a former German basketball official and referee.

Life

Geisler played basketball for the clubs DJK Don Bosco Munich, DJK Sportbund Munich , MTSV Schwabing and Post SV Nürnberg. While he made it to the top division as a player, he was a referee in the Bundesliga squad for years and led more than 300 games in the highest German league. He had obtained his A-referee license in the early 1970s.

At the basketball tournament during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich , he was a member of the staff as a coordinator.

Geisler headed the referee department in the Bavarian Basketball Association for many years and was also in charge of sports organization and match operations in the same association.

From 1999 to 2018 he was on the board of the German Basketball Association (DBB), where he was Vice President responsible for sports organization, senior games and refereeing. As part of this office, Geisler took care of the training of referees, among other things; Geisler, who works full-time in the EVD area, played a large part in the development and implementation of the TeamSL computer program, which was created to control game operations within the DBB. On the occasion of his departure from the DBB board in June 2018, Geisler was made an honorary member of the German Basketball Federation.
