Mauzac-et-Saint-Meyme-de-Rozens is a former French commune with the last 653 inhabitants (1968) in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ).
On January 1, 1973, the municipalities of Mauzac-et-Saint-Meyme-de-Rozens and Grand-Castang merged to form the newly created municipality of Mauzac-et-Grand-Castang , with Grand-Castang receiving the status of a Commune associée .
geography
Mauzac-et-Saint-Meyme-de-Rozens is located about 25 km east of Bergerac in the Bergeracois area of the historic Périgord province on the border with the Périgord noir area .
history
Population development
After the records began, the population rose to an initial high of around 580 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the population fell to around 365 with short recovery periods by the 1930s. After the Second World War , the size rose by leaps and bounds to a population of 790. In the years up to the dissolution of the community, it stagnated to 653 inhabitants in 1968.
