Matthias Damm
Matthias Damm (born April 1954 in Mittweida ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and since August 2015 district administrator of the district of central Saxony .
Life
education and profession
Damm studied electrical engineering and electronics at the Technical University of Dresden from 1972 to 1976 and graduated with a degree in engineering . From 1976 to 1990 he worked at VEB Elfema Mittweida, where he last worked as a legal advisor. In addition, he did his basic military service in the National People's Army from 1977 to 1979 and completed a distance learning law course from 1984 to 1990 at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he completed as a lawyer. Damm has been working as a lawyer in Mittweida since 1990 .
Damm is married and has two children.
Political career
Damm is politically active in the CDU, of which he has been a member since 1994. From 1990 to 2001 he was a member of the Mittweida city council. During this time he was president of the city council of Mittweida from 1990 to 1994 , and from 1994 to 2001 first deputy mayor and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council. In August 2001 he became mayor of Mittweida and suspended his admission as a lawyer when he assumed this office. From August 1, 2008, he held the title of Lord Mayor. He was also a member of the Mittweida district council from 2004 to 2008 .
