Kohlsdorf grew up in Großrückerswalde . He lives in Pobershau , where he was mayor until 1989. Of 7 June 1990 to 31 July 1994 he was District Administrator of the district Marienberg . He was then for two terms until July 31, 2008 District Administrator of the Central Ore Mountains District, which was newly formed as a result of the district reform in 1994 . When a district administrator was elected for the first time in 2008 in the Erzgebirgskreis , which was newly created during the 2008 district reform , he decided not to run.

In 2008, the regional daily newspaper Freie Presse speculated that the Ore Mountains CDU was able to dispense with a candidacy when Kohlsdorf was asked to manage the newly founded municipal "Krankenhaus-Gesundheitsholding Erzgebirge GmbH". The post was assigned to him by the district council of the Erzgebirgskreis without a public tender . Albrecht Kohlsdorf retired at the end of July 2018.

Albrecht Kohlsdorf is married and has three children.
