Dave Randall (born May 8, 1967 in Memphis , Tennessee ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Randall studied marketing at the University of Mississippi and was selected as a doubles player in the best selection All-American in 1988. With his first appearance at a tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour , he won the double title in Birmingham alongside Mark Keil in 1991 . As a result, he played successfully with changing partners and was in the finals of Winnetka , Whistler Mountain and Puebla . From February 1992 he started again regularly with Mark Keil. After a joint quarterfinal participation at the tournament in Philadelphia Randall won his first tournament victory on the ATP World Tour with Keil in Scottsdale . Shortly afterwards they reached the quarterfinals of the Masters tournament in Key Biscayne and in May of that year in the finals in Atlanta . In 1993 Randall and Keil were able to defend their Scottsdale title. From mid-1993 Randall appeared regularly on the side of Brad Pearce . Together they stood in the final in Basel and in the semifinals of the ATP Championship Series tournament in Tokyo . Between mid-1994 and mid-1995 Randall often played with Ellis Ferreira , after a few joint appearances with Greg Van Emburgh he regularly formed doubles with Kent Kinnear until mid-1996 . He won the third and last ATP double title in 1997 with Greg Van Emburgh in Coral Springs . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1993 with position 155 in singles and in 1994 with position 39 in doubles.

His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of Wimbledon in 1993, when he threw Andrei Cherkassov out of the tournament in three sets after three qualifying rounds . In the doubles competition he reached the quarter-finals of the US Open in 1993 , as well as the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in the mixed competition with Jill Hetherington .
