Chuck Adams (born April 23, 1971 in Pacific Palisades , California ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

In his professional tennis career, which lasted from 1990 to 1997, Adams was mostly on the ATP Challenger Tour . He won four titles there with six finals. He had his most successful time on the ATP Tour between 1993 and 1995. He was in a final four times, winning his first against Todd Woodbridge in Seoul in 1993 . However, this remained his only title on the ATP Tour, in his other finals he was defeated by Jacco Eltingh , Alexander Wolkow and Thomas Enqvist . One of the highlights of his career was taking part in the round of 16 at the 1993 US Open . Here he defeated Chris Woodruff , Jonas Svensson and Karel Nováček - the latter had knocked third-placed Stefan Edberg out of the tournament in the previous round . In the round of 16 he lost to Alexander Volkov in three sets. Another notable result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round of the 1994 Wimbledon Championships ; against the eventual champion Pete Sampras , however, he had no chance. He reached his highest score in the tennis world rankings in 1995 with position 34. In doubles he only appeared a few times at the beginning of his career.
