Byron Talbot (born September 15, 1964 in Johannesburg ) is a former South African tennis player who was mainly successful in doubles .

Life

Talbot became a professional tennis player in 1988 and reached the semi-finals at the Challenger Tournament in Johannesburg that same year . The following year he was with Brad Pearce in the double-finals of the Schenectady ATP tournament . In 1992 he won his first double title on the ATP World Tour, again with Pearce. In the course of his career he won seven ATP double titles, six more times he was in a double final. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1989 with position 229 in singles and in 1996 with position 20 in doubles.

He could only qualify once for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament in singles , but was eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open in 1989 . In the doubles competition he reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon with Rikard Bergh in 1993 , but they were subject to the eventual tournament winners Grant Connell and Patrick Galbraith in three sets.
