Francisco Roig Genís (born April 1, 1968 in Barcelona ) is a former Spanish tennis player who was mainly successful in doubles .

Life

Roig became a professional tennis player in 1987 and initially played on the ATP Challenger Tour . The following year he was in the finals of the Challenger tournaments in Saragossa and Rio de Janeiro . In 1990 he won his first single title and three double titles on the Challenger Tour. Together with Tomás Carbonell , he won his first double title on the ATP World Tour in 1991 . A total of nine double titles followed by 1996, seven of them with Carbonell. In the course of his career he was also in 12 finals. In the singles he never reached a final. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1992 with position 60 in singles and 1995 with position 23 in doubles.

His best individual result in Grand Slam tournaments was a third round participation at the French Open in 1989. In doubles, he stood alongside Tomás Carbonell in the quarterfinals of the French Open in 1997.

Roig completed a double encounter for the Spanish Davis Cup team in 1997 . In the quarter-final defeat of the world group against Italy , he played alongside Javier Sánchez in doubles against Omar Camporese and Diego Nargiso , they lost in four sets. In 1997 he won the World Team Cup with the team , in the final he won with Tomás Carbonell against Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde from Australia .
