Carl Limberger (born January 24, 1964 in Wagga Wagga , New South Wales ) is a retired Australian tennis player .

Life

Limberger was in the semi-finals of the junior tournament of the Australian Open in 1980 , he was defeated by Wally Masur . In 1980 he was in the round of 16 of the junior tournament at Wimbledon , and in the quarter-finals the following year. Both times he was defeated by the eventual winner. In 1982 he stood alongside Mike Myburg in Geneva for the first time in an ATP double-final. The following year he became a professional tennis player and was in a double-final eight times by 1992. It was not until 1992 that he achieved his first and only title win on the ATP World Tour with Christer Allgårdh in Guarujá . In the individual, he could never reach a final, his best result was the semi-finals in Auckland , in which he was defeated by Michiel Schapers in three sets. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1987 with position 71 in singles and position 53 in doubles.

His best individual results in Grand Slam tournaments was reaching the second round in all four tournaments. In the doubles competition he stood in 1987 on the side of Mark Woodforde in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. After victories against Joakim Nyström and Mats Wilander, among others, they were defeated by Stefan Edberg and Anders Järryd in four sets.
