Jan Siemerink (born April 14, 1970 in Rijnsburg , South Holland ) is a former Dutch tennis player .

Siemerink won four tournaments in singles and eleven in doubles and was able to surprise again and again with individual victories against the best tennis players in the world. He defeated nine of the former world number one .

However, he achieved his greatest successes in doubles with the tournament victories at the Masters Series tournaments in Monte Carlo and Key Biscayne ( Miami Masters ).

He also played for the Netherlands in the Davis Cup and participated in the Olympic Games in Barcelona and in 1996 in Atlanta .

Jan Siemerink has been the captain of the Dutch Davis Cup team since January 2007. His greatest success so far as team captain was qualifying for the 2009 World Group. However, the Netherlands lost to Argentina 0-5 in the first round. For the 2010 world group, Siemerink and his team could not qualify.

Since February 2018, Siemerink has also been the team manager of the Dutch football club Ajax Amsterdam .

Davis Cup

Between 1991 and 2001, Siemerink competed for the Netherlands 21 times in singles (13 wins) and 6 times in doubles in the Davis Cup. He won 13 singles and 4 doubles. His greatest success was reaching the semi-finals of the world group in 2001. In the quarter-finals, Siemerink made a significant contribution to the 4-1 against Germany with wins against Nicolas Kiefer and David Prinosil .
