Bret Garnett (born July 2, 1967 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Garnett attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana from 1985 to 1988 , during which time he was twice voted for the All-American selection. In 1988 he became a professional tennis player and reached the semi-finals of the Challenger tournament in Bossonnens . He was also in the double finals of this tournament and the Challenger tournament in Cascais . In 1989 he won the double title of Bossonnens. At the side of Jared Palmer , he won his only title on the ATP World Tour in 1992 with the ATP International Series Gold Tournament in Washington . In addition to this double title, he was another three times in an ATP double final in the course of his career. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1989 with position 203 in singles and 1993 with position 49 in doubles.

His best individual results at a Grand Slam tournament were two third round participations at the Australian Open . In the doubles competition he reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in 1993, at the French Open , Wimbledon and the US Open , he was each in the second round.
