Shagadelic Groove ('ʃægǝ'delɪk gru: v) is a German funk and alternative rock band that can also be assigned to the music genre Zouk . The band name and the individual pseudonyms of the band members are all borrowed from the James Bond parody Austin Powers .
history
The band was led by Dr. G. Groove, Dude Dieter Drum and Sir Manfred Von Koreander founded in 2008 in Chemnitz . During the work on the debut album "Sweat 'n' Steam" at the end of 2009, Earl Hipshake Hoobert also joined in, who completed the band's sound with synthesizers. At the beginning of 2011, Dude Dieter Drum left the band and was replaced by Mr. Hugo van Zack. On November 27, 2011, the band announced their breakup. Just two days later, the former members formed the band Atlas Ahead together . Thus the dissolution seems to have been more of a public renaming than an actual dissolution.
style
What is significant for the music of Shagadelic Groove is the combination of different styles of music with partly progressive borrowings, with modern funk making up the largest share. In addition, the band is counted among the best-known representatives of the Zouk music style in Germany, which the group often includes inconspicuously in their songs.
